The Krugman debate that will never end!
I'll be writing in English this year on the blog, hopefully that will be ok with all of our readers. There is a lot going on in the world right now, but perhaps the most amazing of them all is that the Krugman-Estonia spat is still getting media attention! Here is a piece written by Anders Aslund in Foreign Policy attacking Krugman for attacking the Baltic States. While many may think this was a small issue that should be forgotten, the Krugman-Baltic spat is actually a reflection of a much broader argument between the Austrian and Keynesian economic schools. The continuation of this debate is something that I have called for in the past. The outcome of this debate is important for the world which is still in the middle of a financial crisis. Who ever would have thought that Estonia would be the center for a globally important debate? If anyone is interested in more details you can check out the work that Rainer Kattel and Ringa Raudla from TTÜ have been doing here and here. Happy reading!
